Vlasic’s wage and fee doesn’t have to be justified just yet. The Premier League has been set up to be the best and most competitive and will therefore see players on 100,000 grand a week as not a shock.

Players need more time to adjust even if they’ve been in the league before as there are varying setups from club to club.

This continual of expectancy and justifying it with the wage/fee is small time mindset. West Ham if they are going to step up will have to balance successful buys with failures….. it’s sport ffs.

Agreed on Vlasic. Think he is getting some unwarranted criticism from some further down.

At the end Coufal gave a fan his shorts. Not sure I have seen that before!

I have just become aware that Danny Dyer's daughter is called Dani. Now that chant makes a bit of sense.

I would add that Valsic is strong and aggressive in his breakup play in midfield and when back defending. I think he is and will be a much better all round player than Benrahma, who may have trouble to get back into the team when he returns from Africa. Good to have strong competition for places.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Norwich - Official Match Thread
There’s a lot more to Vlasic game than just scoring goals, he holds the ball up well, offers a great outlet from defense. Can play with his back to goal, has a nice touch is strong on the ball and a bit of a handful in the box.

He is improving and is getting up to speed, slowly but surely…. I see him as a Mark Hughes type of forward, the type of player you need as a target guy for your forwards and surrounding players to feed off.

A player you want when you are playing possession football instead of counter attacking football.

He’ll come good and he’ll start banging them in once he gets familiar with Antonio and others.

Agreed. It took time for Fornals, Bowen and Benrahma to get going but most of us are happy with how they are now. I think Vlasic will be the same.

"Can anyone explain the tactic of Cresswell standing on the byline 10 yards from the corner flag, when we had a corner and he wasn't taking them? Did I at least 4 times."

Less an explanation, more a guess.

It gives the corner taker the option of passing to Cresswell. If the option is taken, Cresswell can return the ball to the taker, who will then be in a better position to cross or shoot than he was at the corner flag.

If the option isn't taken, it's hoped that Cresswell's position will mess with the shape of the opposition's defence at the corner

Agreed...Vlasic has improved ...

More needed to justify his fees abd wages...

Goals and assists are what he will be judged on...

Russian league must be poor ...

While I agree that Vlasic is better as a number ten, he does come inside when Antonio drifts left, which is often.

At the moment I’d give Fornals the number ten for his work rate and passing, but I could easily see that switched at some stage.

''Had he passed it earlier it would have been offside''

Nope, you're wrong. Had he put the cross it first time Bowen was onside, stopping the ball and putting it then made it look like Bowen was offside, but we had a toenail work in our favour.

All in all an ok performance against a determined but poor Norwich. We missed a good deal of chances that should of put the game to bed.
Leeds will be different and a much harder game.We need to take those chances early on.
I felt Lanzini wasn't in control of the game like he was against Leeds,he was to deep helping Rice.Vlasic didn't have that good a game alongside Fornals who got better in the second half. I would prefer to push Lanzini up and have Kral in there to support Rice. Vlasic would be a better option to come on than any of the others we have.
It does still mystify me what Moyes does or doesn't do with his subs. Masuaku,FFS he gets in a good position twice to do something and got lucky with his cross,he just doesn't suit football as that shot showed. Anyone who saw the U23's would of though that Okoflex would of done something better. Even Yarmolenko coming on would of done better, at least he has a football brain. But bringing him on for 3 minutes is even more strange. Come on David have some trust in your youngsters.

It gave him a chance to see inbreds again and gave him a rest?

Yep, Vlasic still looks like a no.10, which shouldn't be a surprise seeing as that's the position he played when winning the Russian league's player of the year.

Hope Moyes isn't just stubbornly trying to convert him to a winger and hopefully he'll give him an extended run in the middle. It's not like Fornals hasn't performed well on the left (although for me he's better as a no.10 as well).

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Norwich - Official Match Thread FT 2-0
Even the weaker teams in this league can be hard to beat. Winning 3 games on the bounce, is extremely difficult.

Currently only two teams, on a 3 league game (or more), winning streak. We are one of them.

Given our injuries, illnesses and Benrhama in Africa, that is actually quite a feat.

Yes, the fixtures have been "favourable," but I'm sure other teams have had similar and not won them all, hence the lack of current 3 game winnings streaks.

Vlasic did more than ok yesterday. But he should have played in Fornals position, and not on the wing.
Don't forget he should have been awarded two pens

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Norwich - Official Match Thread FT 2-0
Thought we were a bit flat last night but didnt need to get out of 2nd gear to beat a team that is getting relegated and is comfortably the worst in the league.
We looked like a team that has played every scheduled match (incl making up our postponed game last night) while some teams are avoiding games for their own purposes. All the teams with less than 20 games should have played this midweek. Burnley should have played Tuesday & Thursday.

Bowen was outstanding again and wouldnt have been flattered to score 4 or 5. If we had another striker Antonio would have had a break which meant he looked lethargic.
To be honest with our 3rd & 4th choice centre backs we are doing brilliantly even when we end up using Yarmolenko & Arthur.
Agree with whoever expressed bemusement that Moyes wouldnt give Oko-Flex a couple of minutes once the game was over instead of the step over stroller Yarmolenko.

Fair enough Trunds - I got no issue with people’s opinions on players - everyone sees the game differently and I think it sometimes depends where you sit in the ground.

I think we at times played some great stuff last night but I also thought the players thought they could coast through and win it easy last night. Levels sometimes drop against poorer teams.

I'm not a fan of Masuaku but he did more in 15 minutes than Vlasic did in 75

Arthur was magically shitterly brilliant.. yeah he got an assist... cross should have gone first thing ... he waited... and waited... and then shoved in a cross that somehow missed the oppo... and went about 2 foot behind Bowen... but yeah it's a 3 pointer on the Daily Telegraph !!
